The Green Gifts Fair is coming up in one week and I think I'm ready. Just a few things left I HAVE to do, and then of course I want to make more stuff. I'm toying with the idea of doing Instant Haiku at the fair. I don't know, I think I could do it, I just need to bring a few word books. I think it would be fun but I don't know if anyone would be into it. I was thinking I'd prep some playing cards or something ATC-sized ahead of time to use to write the haikus on. And here's what I came up with for a sign:
Auntie Ben's Haiku! done in 10 minutes or less
- magnet, pin, or ornament
- personalized
- choice of style: heartwarming or funny
- winter blue or Christmas green
- $3 for 3 lines
What do you think? Would you go for it? Here's a haiku I wrote recently about my daughter:
Doughnuts, singing, church
bells ringing, Lily touching
hands, angel voice: "peace."

Hi, Carrie,
I think the instant haikus idea sounds cool -- like those caricature artists only much more original and creative. I think if you had a few of your haikus on display it would help promote it. And for 3 bucks, what's to lose? Maybe have some notecards with nice little envelopes that maybe you predecorated a little bit with rubber stamps or something, for that little extra touch. I say go for it!
I'm sorry, but haiku always cracks me up. It can be about the worse thing in the world, and I still crack up. Luckily, yours is about something sweet. I tried not to laugh but it had to happen. it's haiku.
DON'T GO CRAZY THIS WEEKEND!
